Digital Dentistry
3D Dental Tomography
In determining the correct diagnosis and treatment method in the dentistry practice, a detailed systematic medical history and clinical evaluation, as well as an accurate and detailed radiological examination are of great importance. The conventional radiographs used in dentistry offer a 2D imaging of 3D anatomical structures. Therefore, the evaluation of pathological lesions, anatomical structure and bone tissue thickness using conventional radiographs is not sufficient before any surgical interventions.
3D computed tomography technique provides shorter diagnostic time and more accurate and, precise diagnosis with higher quality image resolution compared to 2D conventional methods.
It provides accurate information on bone quality and density allowing precise measurements, especially in surgical planning. It is a very reliable guide in determining the capacities of jaw bones before implant surgery and in the evaluation of the relationship between important anatomical structures (mandibular nerve, maxillary sinus, nasal base).
3D tomography systems, in addition to the implant surgery in the dentistry practice helps;
In determining the position of impacted teeth in the bone,
In determining the relationship between pathological lesions’ size, location and anatomical regions.
In cases of endodontics, it is often used to determine root fractures and length of root canals that cannot be determined by conventional radiographs.
In addition to all of these, digital systems can be used to process data from dental tomography and provide a surgical guide. This provide comfort in both patients and physicians by decreasing the procedure time in dental implant cases
