Empress crown is a type of crown made of light-permeable and non-metal supported porcelain materials.  Empress crowns, which are one of the most important coating methods of aesthetic dentistry, reflect lights and provide an aesthetic appearance to the individual.

Where is Empress Crown applied?

Empress crowns are generally used for aesthetic purposes and are usually preferred in the anterior teeth. Empress coatings have a high light permeability that can produced very good results and they can also be applied to the posterior teeth if necessary. However, it is not recommended to apply on the high masticatory posterior molars because of the hard and fragile nature of these coatinfs. In such cases, zirconium crown is more appropriate.
