Teeth Whitening (Bleaching)
What is Teeth Whitening?
Teeth whitening is an effective treatment method used to eliminate stains and discoloration on the teeth caused by various factors.
How is Teeth Whitening Applied?
Teeth discoloration, resulting from factors such as the consumption of foods containing dyes over time, smoking, certain medications, trauma, genetic and systemic diseases, can be lightened by several shades in a short period through office and home bleaching processes.
In the office-based teeth whitening method, the tooth color is assessed using a color scale. Protective measures are taken to prevent the bleaching agent from coming into contact with the tongue, cheeks, lips, and gums. The whitening agent is then applied and activated using a laser or amplified light source.
Following the treatment, the tooth color is reassessed, and if necessary, further whitening is supported by the home-based method.
In the home-based teeth whitening method, trays are customized according to the individual’s tooth structure, and a low-density bleaching gel is utilized. This method typically takes longer compared to the office-based whitening method.
