    Wide-open Cavities and Implants

    [ez-toc]

Dental implants are not used for filling gaps only. Small titanium screws are medical miracles. When your smile suddenly look older, when a few teeth are missing, or when old dentures become more and more troublesome, you can turn back time and your teeth can look younger again. Single tooth implants are a particularly outstanding solution. Whether it’s next to one or more teeth missing, each tooth is individually restored and returned to its original state. If three or more side by side teeth are missing, you can choose an implant-supported bridge option.

In this treatment option, the crowns are interdependent and, depending on the length of the toothless cavity- two or more implants are placed for support, in a stable and reliable manner.

After a precise planning, the new roots of the tooth is usually applied in the jaw within the same session.

During the healing process,  a temporary prosthetic is placed to fill in the gaps. After the healing phase, the permanent crowns or bridged are attached in place.

Your preference: Traditional bridge or implants?

An alternative to implant solution is the conventional bridge.  However, adjacent teeth (left and right) of the toothless cavity should be used to support the bridge. These teeth are reduced in size to carry the crowns to which the bridge is attached. This is unpleasant specially if the teeth are perfectly healthy. Reducing its size means losing the protective enamel layers and exposing them to higher loads. In many cases, this process reduces the viability of the teeth.

If the gap is at the end of the tooth series – it is called a toothless termination – your dentist may offer an alternative prosthesis as an alternative. The same is true when the gap is too large to be fixed in a long way with a conventional bridge. A simple one-piece denture is attached to the existing teeth with the help of metal clasps. Metal clasps and prosthetic plastic also support the gums or jaws, but metal clasps can damage the teeth in time. A high-quality denture can also be attached to natural teeth by means of rods or sensitive connections. This means that, as with a tooth-supported bridge, teeth will need to be cut and crowned.

If the gap is at the end of the teeth sequence, often called as toothless termination, your dentist may offer a sectioned prosthesis as an alternative. The same is true when the gap is too large to be filled with conventional bridge. A simple one-piece denture is attached to the existing teeth with the help of metal clasps. Metal clasps and prosthetic plastic also support the gums or jaws, but metal clasps can damage the teeth in time. A high-quality denture can also be attached to the natural teeth by means of rods or with precise connections. This means that, as with a tooth-supported bridge, teeth will need to be cut and crowned.

Implants: The best solution in every aspect

All of the above are unnecessary for implants. Small titanium screws are artificial tooth roots that keep your new crowns secure and invisible. Your healthy teeth will not be cut and will not be covered with crowns. You don’t need to worry about the hooks. Your implant-supported teeth will blend with your natural teeth. It will look and feel the same as your natural teeth as if nothing artificial was placed.
